  My opinion?
  A person working a job should not have to get government assistance in order to make ends meet, while his employer continues to enjoy tax advantages that helps them maximize their bottom line. We, the regular taxpayer, have to make up the difference by paying higher taxes to fund the programs. To help people WITH JOBS actually survive.
  
  Pay a decent wage, indexed for the area of the country you run your business in. Some places like New York would be higher, other places like Fumbuck, Arkansas would be lower. But pay a living wage.
  
  Making statements like "If you don't like it, leave!", "Move where the jobs are!" and "Get and education if you want a good job!" sound exactly like the harsh, arrogant attitudes I heard in every car group I ever had the misfortune to ride in. Along with that other standard "Wait on God's Kingdom, and ALL your problems will be solved!"

  Paris as an opportunity to frame religious extremism

  in a conversation, my jw listener posed the sadness and the unnecessary loss of life of the bombings.

  also, something was said about a belief on the extremist's part that their actions would or could bring armageddon to earth (i wasn't clear as to where this came from).

  i recognized the connection that i believed was being drawn and that's when i went off.. the gist of my response:.

  Did you know anyone who commited suicide in the org?

  back in 1991, a young brother maybe 18 years old living next to my place committed suicide.

  his father expected him to be very zealous just like he was, but the son never wanted to be like that.

  he was always controlled by his father.

  When I was a kid, there was a man at our hall that my parents were friendly with. One night, I hear my parents talking that he killed himself. I naively said "Well, he will be resurrected in the New System!" and my Mom (gently) rebuked me and said "You don't get resurrected if you kill yourself." (On a side note, I swear I heard them say he had "slashed his lips with a drill in his basement", which would be a particularly complicated and gruesome way to kill yourself. It wasn't till a few years later, that I found out that he had "slashed his wrists". I don't know how I got a drill into the mix...)
  
  A few years ago, an elderly brother at our Hall got addicted to pain medication, and could not kick that monkey off his back. So, one day, he went to the back yard, sat on his riding lawn mower, and shot himself. And, even though they would not have a funeral talk at the Hall, the PO (or whatever he is called now) gave the "funeral talk" at the funeral home, and it was a gentle, kind talk about the man. (I think this brother was the elder that was trying to help him with his addiction.)

  Okay, I thought you were referring to "My Sweet Lord" by George Harrison, but where the heck is the posthumous come into it? This was released in 1970. Harrison didn't die til 2001
